Emmaus’ Staying in with the Valley Stars is more than just an online auction and entertaining lifestyle videos each night. It is an opportunity to support Emmaus.
Proceeds from this virtual event and online auction will support Emmaus’ many shelter and housing programs that help homeless and formerly homeless men, women and children rebuild their lives. Emmaus has been open during this entire health crisis, sheltering and caring for the community's most-vulnerable who have no place else to turn. As a result of the canceled spring gala, and unanticipated costs from this pandemic, Emmaus initially projected a budgetary shortfall of more than $150,000 for the current fiscal year ending June 30. Over time the agency has discovered the true deficit is actually much higher.

We are so excited to partner with Kristen Carbone of Carbone’s Kitchen for Day 2 of “Staying In with the Valley Stars.” Carbone's Kitchen has become one of the most popular lunch and dinner take out spots in Haverhill. Located in Bradford Square, Kristen Carbone is known for her delicious homemade sausages and other Italian specialties. In this video, Kristen will share with you how she makes her famous sausage.

We’ve all seen them—dances from the popular app TikTok. The app has grown in popularity over the past few months as people are finding new ways to connect and have fun during a global pandemic. Today, professional dancers Angie Egea and Audrey Guerrero will teach you how to do the Latino Dance Check challenge on TikTok. Angie and Audrey have served as professional dance partners in our Stepping Out with the Valley Stars gala—Angie has taken home the top prize twice out of the five years we’ve had our event!

The last video today is of 2019 "Stepping Out with the Valley Stars" winner Jennifer Borislow and her professional partner Victor Perez. Jennifer was to be out of the country for Emmaus' gala this year, so she taped a special message and her encore dance performance at the HC Media Studios at Harbor Place in February. It was to be shown on the night of our event in April and we wanted to share it with you.

This video features Jason Petrou from Krueger’s Flatbread/Olivia’s, Matt Gaiero from G’s and Katie Polevcik from Barrio which is opening its second location in Haverhill at Harbor Place this summer! Local business owner and member of the Haverhill Rotary Club, Steven Goddu is sharing with us a video he created that demonstrates how to make the perfect pasta sauce, crepes and manicotti. Yum!
