Why Should I Support Emmaus

• Since 1985, Emmaus has helped more than 35,000 children and adults out of homelessness and toward self-sufficiency.
• Last year Emmaus helped 783 children through our shelters and housing programs.
• Each year we serve more than 80,000 meals to our shelter residents. Families in our permanent supportive housing programs receive emergency food from the Emmaus Food and Donation Distribution Center.
• Throughout the pandemic, Emmaus has worked diligently to continue to provide a safe, COVID-free shelter to homeless single adults as well as families. We have continued to place adults and families into their own apartments where they can live safely and protect themselves from contracting the virus. Since March, Emmaus has placed 78 households into permanent housing
• We adjusted our operating hours for Mitch's Place Shelter during the COVID-19 crisis, thus providing a safe space 24-7 for our guests to safely shelter in place.
• We could not do all we do, especially during a pandemic, without your support. This year alone, we project that the costs of cleaning and providing PPE to our staff and those in our shelter will cost us more than $100,000. Additionally, we are facing hundreds of thousands of unanticipated costs for increased staffing.
• We were COMPASSIONATE to the needs of our guests; we were PREPARED by developing solid plans during the weeks leading up to the pandemic and taking immediate action to ensure our guests' and staff's safety when COVID reached Massachusetts; and we are RESILIENT and we will get through this thanks to our dedicated staff, caring volunteers, and YOUR support!

Of every dollar we raise, 90.5 cents goes directly into client services.

Emmaus is grateful to Haverhill Bank  who will again match the first $2,000 we raise on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Once Emmaus receives $25,000 in donations that day, Haverhill Bank will also match dollar for dollar the next $2,500 we raise! This year we hope to reach $30,000 to defray the mounting expenses due to COVID-19. These funds will allow us to continue to help the single adults and families we serve move beyond shelter so they can live their lives safely and independently.
