Since 1985, Emmaus has helped more than 40,000 children, men and women out of homelessness and into permanent housing.  Located in Haverhill, MA, Emmaus assists families and individuals in the Merrimack Valley and Northeastern Massachusetts to secure homes and achieve self-sufficiency.  Last year, Emmaus helped a total of 1,012 people, including 400 children under the age of 18, through its shelters and housing programs.  Thanks to the financial support of many, we have been able to care for those in the Merrimack Valley who have nowhere else to turn.

Times are tough for many as we are all burdened by high inflation.  Those we serve are especially impacted by the changes in the economy as escalating day-to-day expenses can trigger unexpected housing insecurity. The lack of available and affordable housing in the area, coupled with inflation, a slowing economy, and the end of rent moratoriums and pandemic relief programs mean that more and more people will need support from Emmaus this year. In order to help these men, women and families find their way home, Emmaus relies upon charitable gifts, grants, and proceeds from fundraising events like the annual spring gala to help fund our programs.

**On any given night, 300 adults and children will call Emmaus "home."

**Each year we serve more than 80,000 meals to our shelter residents. Families in our permanent supportive housing programs receive emergency food from the Emmaus Food and Donation Distribution Center.  About 25 households weekly utilize the center and last year we assisted close to 100 different households.  During these tough economic times, our weekly food distributions have become even more important for our clients.

**Emmaus owns and operates 99 units of permanent affordable housing to help families, individuals and elders remain stably housed.

**91 cents of every dollar we raise goes directly into program services.  The money you donate stays local and helps local people.
