Our Need and Impact

The past two years have demonstrated the impact of Emmaus' mission upon the lives of our community's most vulnerable members. Without interruption, throughout the global pandemic Emmaus' two emergency shelters have cared for children and adults without any place to call "home." Emmaus has placed over 40 individuals living on the streets into permanent housing since March 2020. And the formerly homeless women, men and children who reside in the 99 affordable apartments that we own and manage, have lived safely and securely during these turbulent times. Emmaus has achieved all of this, but it's been very costly. We are still incurring $40,000 every month in pandemic-related staffing and operating costs. By year end, this will amount to close to $500,000. We need this event to help offset these incredible expenses and we can't do it without your support. Did you know...

**Since 1985, Emmaus has helped more than 35,000 children and adults out of homelessness and toward self-sufficiency.  

**Last year, Emmaus served 630 children through our shelters and housing programs. 

**On any given night, 300 adults and children will call Emmaus "home."

**Each year we serve more than 80,000 meals to our shelter residents. Families in our permanent supportive housing programs receive emergency food from the Emmaus Food and Donation Distribution Center.  About 25 households weekly utilize the center and last year we assisted close to 100 different households.  During the pandemic our weekly food distributions have become even more important for our clients.

**Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, Emmaus has successfully placed over 40 unsheltered individuals directly into permanent housing. Thanks to your tremendous support, these men and women have lived safely and securely during these unsettling times.

**Emmaus owns and operates 99 units of permanent affordable housing to help families, individuals and elders remain stably housed.

**91 cents of every dollar we raise goes directly into program services.  The money you donate stays local and helps local people.
